Most cancer happens spontaneously but 25% of cancer cases are inherited and can be passed on to future generation. Hereditary cancer panel testing can determine if an individual carries the genetic change that increases their risk of cancer in their lifetime.
Target group: Cancer patients, healthy individuals with family history of cancer.
If you have a family member diagnosed with cancer that has conducted genetic testing, we are able to test for the specific gene change at a lower costs compared to a panel test. Refer to 'Family variant testing'.
Specificity: >99% analytical sensitivity and specificity for single nucleotide variants, insertions and deletions <15bp in length, and exon-level deletions and duplications.
Limitations: Detect insertions and deletions larger than 15bp but smaller than a full exon but sensitivity for these may be marginally reduced. Invitae’s deletion/duplication analysis determines copy number at a single exon resolution at virtually all targeted exon
Report coverage: Pathogenic variants and variant of uncertain significance (VUS)
Number of genes: 70 genes
Sample required: Saliva swabs, blood in EDTA tube
Reporting Time: 28 working days
Laboratory: USA
